Anette Bøe var en av de første langrennsløperne i Norge som behersket skøyteteknikken, og i 1985 gjorde hun det særdeles bra. Ikke bare vant hun verdenscupen, hun ble også verdensmester og gullvinner på 5 og 10 km under VM, og fikk i tillegg bronse på 20 km. I 1985 var Connie Barr programleder i ungdomsprogrammet ”Kluzz”. Da var hun bare 19 år gammel, og sørget for at de første musikkvideoene ble vist på NRK. Skuespiller Helge Jordal var også sentral i 1985. Han hadde en av hovedrollene i den norske spillefilmen ”Orions belte” som ble en kjempesuksess på norske kinoer. Filmen vant Amanda-prisen for årets beste spillefilm i 1985, og Helge Jordal fikk en Amanda som årets mannlige skuespiller.
