Season 1

Episodes

Everything Changes
PC Gwen Cooper is at the scene of a brutal murder, when the "special ops," known only as Torchwood, arrive. After witnessing the group bring the dead man back to life, Gwen goes in pursuit of this mysterious organization, only to see weirder things than she could ever imagine existed. Soon after, she begins to regret giving in to her curiosity, when she meets Captain Jack Harkness.

Day One
It's Gwen's first day on the job, and it's not going very well. After accidentally releasing a mysterious gas from a comet that landed, a new type of alien is let loose on the streets - an alien that's addicted to sex. Torchwood must find the inhabited body, and prevent any more deaths from this violent form of sex.

Ghost Machine
While chasing a man, Gwen retrieves an unusual machine that allows the user to see back into the past. When she inadvertently uses the machine, she is haunted by a vision of a lonely young boy during World War II Britain. Considering the machine dangerous, no members of Torchwood are permitted to use it. But Owen has other plans, and witnesses a violent murder that took place over forty years ago. Using the information he gathered, Owen starts to track down the still-living murderer.

Cyberwoman
Ianto Jones has been hiding a very big secret at Torchwood - his half-converted girlfriend from the Canary Wharf Battle - down in the basement. He is quick to hire a Japanese doctor who believes he can "cure" her. But things soon go wrong, and the Cyberwoman's destructive powers are released to the whole of Torchwood. Upgrading is compulsory.

Small Worlds
A withdrawn child has her suppressed anger taken advantage of by fairies at the bottom of her garden. Jack catches up with a very old friend who is investigating fairy sightings in the local wood. After having visited her, Torchwood is informed of a man's mysterious death in a prison cell, and Tosh uncovers a series of localized, extreme weather patterns. Nobody at the organization is sure of these events, or how they may be connected. Except for Jack, who has witnessed the creatures causing this, almost a century ago.

Countrycide
Concerned that the Rift is spreading, the Torchwood team investigates a series of gruesome deaths located in a small isolated village in the Brecon Beacons. What sort of creature could cause such shocking injuries? Stranded without communications or equipment, and separated from one another, the team confronts a terrifying enemy.

Greeks Bearing Gifts
After meeting an usual woman named Mary at a bar, Toshiko is given a strange alien pendant. She is upset, yet amazed by what she now has - the ability to read people's thoughts. As the rest of the team puzzle over a centuries-old skeleton, Tosh discovers that her newfound ability is as much of a curse as it is it a blessing, and begins to question her commitment to Torchwood.

They Keep Killing Suzie
Torchwood is linked to a series of brutal murders around the city. As Jack and the team investigate, it becomes clear somebody wants their attention. What is Pilgrim — and how is it connected to a figure from Torchwood's past? The resurrection days are far from over. They have no choice but to bring back Suzie.

Random Shoes
Known to the team as being obsessed with alien life, Eugene Jones wakes up in the middle of a road and discovers that he has been the victim of a fatal hit-and-run incident. As Gwen investigates the suspicious circumstances around his fatality, Eugene recalls events leading up to his death, involving a mysterious alien eye.

Out of Time
Three passengers from 1953 arrive in modern day Cardiff when their plane unintentionally flies through the Rift. With no means of traveling back, each person must adapt to their new life in the present. However, there are painful consequences for all concerned when the displaced passengers start personal relationships with members of the Torchwood team.

Combat
Weevils are being kidnapped from the streets of Cardiff, and Torchwood want to know why. Still struggling with the end of his relationship with Diane Holmes, Owen is sent undercover to find out who's behind the kidnappings and soon befriends the charismatic Mark Lynch. Beneath the veneer of city life, Owen discovers a shocking subculture: can he avoid being sucked in?

Captain Jack Harkness
Investigating reports of ghostly music, Jack and Toshiko find themselves stranded in a packed dance hall — in 1941. As Gwen, Owen, and Ianto work to rescue their colleagues, Jack and Toshiko meet a handsome young American squadron leader by the name of Captain Jack Harkness.

End of Days
The increasingly fractured Torchwood team are faced with fragments of their pasts and visions of their futures when the Rift begins splintering time all over the world. When the team's tensions reach boiling point, can Jack save the planet from certain disaster without the support of his team?
