Season 1
A brand new series that explores some of the most fascinating and hard-core boat journeys on the planet. In this mini series we undertake epic journeys by boats in some of the toughest environments on earth. During our journeys we look at how the technology of boat travel has been adapted to survive, trade with and connect isolated communities.

The Amazon
On a remarkable 250 mile, 3 day journey through remote rainforest, Holly Morris travels by cargo boat down one of the remotest stretches of the Amazon, in Peru. Sleeping in a hammock at night, she shares deck space with over 200 local Peruvians, and countless boxes of vegetables and fruit, heading to the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos.

Tanzania
In this programme host Zay Harding travels on board some of Africa's toughest and most historic boats as he explores the spectacular East African country of Tanzania.

The Arctic
In this programme host Ian Wright travels to the high Arctic from the coast of northern Norway, working his passage on a trawler fishing for cod, before continuing his voyage on a specially ice-strengthened vessel around Spitsbergen, the world's northernmost inhabited islands, in order to search for polar bears.

The Great Lakes
In this episode, Globe Trekker adventurer Holly Morris explores the waters that shaped America - the Great Lakes. Covering 94,000 square miles, the Great Lakes are the largest reservoir of fresh water on the planet and one of the world's busiest waterways. For centuries these waters have been a critical trade artery, determining the history and economy of North America and the world.

The Philippines
The Philippines is the world's second largest Archipelago comprising of 7,107 stunning Islands nestled in the Pacific Ocean's Coral Triangle. Ever since the first Malaysian and Indonesian settlers arrived nearly 70,000 years ago, boats have played a fundamental role in shaping the country, its people, economy and culture. In our hour-long adventure we explore five of the Philippines most breath-taking Islands. This episode will tell the story of the Philippines history, its people and its dramatic landscapes.
