Episode 1
A patient in a critical condition is rushed into theatre from North Wales. He's had a stroke and the on-call trauma team have no time to lose. The stroke has caused his brain to swell, and they need to remove part of his skull to save his life.
Forty-eight-year-old Christine has fallen downstairs, breaking her neck, it's a severe and life-threatening injury. Can the Consultant Neurosurgeon act in time to remove the shattered disc and save her from paralysis?
Anthony is living with a ticking timebomb in his brain. It's called an AVM, a tangle of abnormal blood vessels that threatens his life every day. He's at the centre to have it removed but it's 6cm deep inside his brain and it's going to be a complex surgery to disconnect it.

Episode 2
A patient in a critical condition is rushed to the centre after collapsing at the wheel while driving. He's had a stroke and the on-call trauma team have no time to lose. His brain is swelling, and his chances of survival are looking slim. After suffering from headaches and dizzy spells, scans showed that 30-year-old Ashley had a life threatening tumour on his brain. First job is to remove the tumour, the second to analyse it for cancer.
Sixty-five-year-old Beverley has been living with chronic lower back pain for years, to alleviate this she's having a metal spacer cage inserted between two vertebrae but, just millimetres from the spinal cord, there's no room for error.

Episode 3
A man is taken into theatre with agonising back pain and doctors suspect a cancerous tumour is compressing his spinal cord. He needs an operation using a hi-tech robot to remove it.

Episode 4
A neurosurgeon races to stop a 21-year-old Caitlin from becoming blind. A brain cyst endangers Toni's life and a massive deformity of the spine causes Steven to be operated on.

Episode 5
A patient is sped into theatre after a stroke. Lorna is rushed in for emergency surgery after breaking her back. A consultant neurosurgeon must act quickly to avoid paralysis.

Episode 6
Surgeons begin to fear that without urgent surgery Fifty-three-year-old Theresa could become paralysed after she's rushed to hospital with weakness in her arms and legs.

Episode 7
Shaun has a rare condition, acromegaly, that causes his hands and feet to keep growing. Sofia needs an operation to alleviate a Chiari malformation: her brain is pushing into the spinal canal.

Episode 8
James, 63, is losing feeling and function in his hands and fingers. Surgeons must act fast to remove disc and bone from his neck. It's up to them to save James from an uncertain future.
