Just when Dai Zhiqiang was about to come back again, the higher-level party committee who received the report letter asked Dai Zhiqiang to suspend him for investigation. Wang Decai himself did not expect that his report letter would take effect so quickly, and he was restless. He leaked his report while playing cockfighting, causing public outrage. The old party secretary invited Wang Decai to drink, but what he drank was a bottle of bitter water—the rainwater that had been collected on the roof of the village before there was no running water—the old party secretary berated Wang Decai for forgetting his roots.
