This sent the whole school/PTA in a frenzy, and actually had some students as well as adults protesting. Hal is worried that Sid might freak out and back out of their relationship. Hal is surprised, when Sid tells them (including Mitch, and Gale) he leaked it. Gale and Mitch leaves, while the two figure out their other possibilities.
