Arktinen rintama
The United States and the Soviet Union worked closely together during World War II to defeat Hitler's Germany. However, the Allied rupture and the ruthless competition over Nazi weapons technology began behind the scenes even before the end of the war and quickly escalated to their extremes. The superpowers began to seek a stronger foothold in the Arctic region. At the beginning of the Cold War, the North prepared for guerrilla warfare, tried to protect important intelligence, and tried to stay in the nuclear arms race.

Pohjoisen rautaesirippu
The technological race between the superpowers intensifies as rocket development and nuclear tests are carried out with the help of scientists brought from Germany. The need for intelligence is enormous and spy balloons and planes fly over the North Pole and in the northern skies. Finland, the Soviet Union's neighbor, becomes an arena for active intelligence activities. In addition to Soviet agents, NATO and CIA intelligence agents roam the forests and fells. Norway seeks protection from NATO, while Sweden, in turn, relies on its nuclear weapons plan.

Vakoojien kylmä pelikenttä
Nuclear tests are increasing in size and bombers and spy planes are flying further north. The United States is increasing its activities in Greenland, while the Soviet Union is opening a nuclear test site to the north. Escalating espionage is leading to border and airspace violations in Finland. Due to the increased threat of attack, Norway is strengthening its defense lines in the north and increasing the number of soldiers. Sweden is seen as a potential future nuclear weapons state. It also has the fourth-strongest air force in the world.

Arktinen ydinsäteily
The great power competition is moving to a new level. The Soviet Union is actively developing space and missile technology in the North. It is opening a nuclear submarine base in the Arctic region and submarines are already sailing as far as the North Pole. The United States is building radar networks for bombers and intercontinental missiles. The Nordic countries are waking up to the increased threat of nuclear war and are concerned about the effects of large-scale nuclear tests in the vicinity. The revealed espionage activities of the United States are causing a major crisis in Norway.

Hyytävä suurvaltapeli
East and West fail in their attempts to limit the threat posed by nuclear weapons. The Soviet Union increases missile activity on the Kola Peninsula. The United States builds an extensive nuclear weapons network under the ice and prepares for a Soviet attack with a plan to drop thousands of nuclear weapons. The Nordic countries are also on the list of nuclear targets. The superpower race causes destruction in the Arctic nature and claims human lives in space. Finland is pressured into military cooperation and President Kekkonen's role is also suspected abroad. Norway tries to make amends with the loose Soviet Union.

Uusi kylmä sota
There is deep distrust between the parties and the Cold War situation becomes explosive. The Soviet Union threatens NATO with a neutron bomb and actively practices in its border areas. NATO deploys more missiles in Europe and organizes a huge military exercise. Soviet submarines penetrate Swedish and Finnish territorial waters. Sweden raises its readiness in the north and Norway builds bunkers. Finland strengthens its air force and surveillance of Lapland. A Soviet missile strays into Finland. In the end, the outbreak of nuclear war was only a push away.
