De aanklager van het Joegoslavië Tribunaal heeft in de zaak Milosevic, die nu ruim anderhalf jaar bezig is, ruim 250 getuigen opgeroepen. Ondanks dit grote aantal getuigen menen critici dat hoofdaanklager Carla del Ponte nog altijd geen zaak heeft. En rechter May zou haar veel te veel ruimte geven in de procesgang, aldus dezelfde critici. Na een grondige analyse van duizenden pagina’s transcript van het proces, komt De Putter tot de conclusie dat de aanklager met enige regelmaat getuigen manipuleert en vermeende misdadigers levenslange immuniteit geeft ‘in ruil voor’ belastende verklaringen tegen Milosevic.
