Vooral het doorruziën na een scheiding veroorzaakt vermijd- en verwijtbare schade, zo stellen de onderzoekers. De toegenomen schade verklaren ze uit het feit dat de moderne gezinnen meer gesloten zijn geworden terwijl de samenleving steeds opener wordt. Minder familiebemoeienis, minder steun en correctie door de omgeving, kerk, huisarts of buurt.
