Ouderdom is een ziekte die bestreden kan worden. Wereldwijd zijn er de afgelopen jaren anti-verouderings instituten ontstaan die zich richten op het bestrijden van de aftakeling van het lichaam. Oud worden met een gezond lichaam, dat is het doel. Klinieken die mensen anti-verouderings programma’s aanbieden schieten in de Verenigde Staten als paddestoelen uit de grond. Het klinkt als een nieuwe hype maar de medische wereld lijkt er steeds meer van overtuigd te raken dat het lichaam zeer goed te onderhouden is. Het mag misschien science fiction lijken, maar sommigen beweren serieus dat de medische ontwikkelingen dermate snel gaan dat op termijn veroudering te stoppen is.
