De hoge kosten voor ons persoonlijk vervoer komen niet zozeer door de hoge brandstofprijzen, als wel door het enorme verbruik van onze auto’s. Terwijl de wagens die we rijden al lang met veel minder kunnen. Zo ondervond bijvoorbeeld Evan McMullen, een autodealer uit Seattle, die bij toeval op een Opel uit 1970 stuitte. Wat bleek? Het oudje reed ruim tien keer zuiniger dan de gemiddelde auto die wij nu kunnen kopen. In Tegenlicht de vraag hoe het mogelijk is dat de auto-industrie nooit iets deed met deze technologie.
