Nick Baker searches for some of nature's Weird Creatures - from the master of disguise the mimic octopus to the tiny primate who's eyes are literary bigger than it's belly. Some would dismiss these oddities as freaks of nature, but for Nick, these are the unsung heroes of evolutionary biology.

The Human Fish
Nick's quest takes him to Slovenia in search of a bizarre, sightless salamander. He descends deep into the mountains to find the proteus or olm, dubbed the 'human fish' because its skin resembles human flesh. Nick camps underground for three days in an attempt to experience this light-deprived world and the effect it has had on the olm's evolution.

The Real Gremlin
Nick travels to the remote jungles of south-east Asia to meet a very bizarre creature indeed - the tarsier, one of the tiniest primates on the planet, which bears an uncanny resemblance to the mythical gremlin.

The Swamp Thing
Nick heads to the United States in search of a creature with the claws of a bear, the jaws of a griffin and the biggest bite in the animal kingdom: the alligator snapping turtle.

The Hellbender
The giant Hellbender Salamander was Nick's childhood obsession. When he finds they are in trouble he is determined to find out why and do something about it.

The Invisible Lizard
Nick is on a turbo-charged chase through Madagascar in search of chameleons - the so-called masters of disguise. Nick wants to find one of these 'invisible lizards' in order to bust a few myths and uncover the mystery surrounding this incredible lizard.

The Frankenstein Fish
Nick investigates stories of enormous catfish terrorising the UK and Spanish waters. He must now find out why it's public enemy number one.

The Night Stalker
Madagascar's creepiest resident is the aye-aye. Nick must confront his fears and find out why it has become so feared by the local population.

The Mimic Octopus
Nick is in search of a disguise artist - the mimic octopus, supposedly capable of an incredible 15 impersonations. But can it live up to the great claims?
