More than two million U.S. soldiers served in the Vietnam War that lasted nearly a decade from 1964. It was a grueling conflict that divided Americans and killed nearly 60,000 service members, and yet two men who survived found that even in the horrors of war, there are acts of humanity that last the test of time.

Surviving the Holocaust
Join Ann Curry for dramatic reunions between survivors of the Holocaust and the people whose lives were shaped by it. More than six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. And yet amidst the hatred and suffering, deep bonds were forged between those fleeing the atrocities that span generations. Great Alaskan Earthquake
Join Ann Curry for dramatic reunions between two people who as children in 1964 survived the biggest earthquake in North American history and the second largest ever in the world. Michele searches for her neighborhood friend Gretchen Young who shielded her through the traumatic earthquake, while Dan wants to find fellow Little League baseball player Bucky who also survived the earthquake that destroyed their childhoods.
On the afternoon of March 27, 1964, the small communities around Anchorage, Alaska, were torn apart by the 9.2 magnitude earthquake. Entire streets of homes slid into the sea, and vast fissures erupted in the streets. But for two young children who survived, the disaster had a deeper, lasting impact. Their idyllic childhoods were destroyed, leaving wounds they now want to heal.

Korean War Brothers in Arms
Join Ann Curry for dramatic reunions between veterans of the Korean War and the loved ones of servicemen who supported them. Marine Corps soldier Jim searches for two heroic lieutenants who bravely led him in battle, whilst Navy veteran Tony looks for his best friend and confidante aboard the USS Consolation hospital ship who shared the burden of helping the wounded.
Often called the Forgotten War, the Korean War began on June 25, 1950, when an army of North Korean soldiers poured over the 38th parallel into South Korea, their mission to impose communism on their neighbors. Over 325,000 American troops went to the aid of the South Korean people on land, air, and sea during the three years of conflict. But for two young men, their fellow servicemen became rocks of support and the inspiration that stayed with them over decades.

Escape From Cuba
Join Ann Curry for emotional reunions between two Cuban refugees and the U.S. strangers that offered them a chance of a better future decades ago: the man searching for the Mexican-American family that gave him a home as a young boy after Castro's regime executed his father and a Californian fire chief looking for the shrimping boat skipper who brought him to safety.
After Fidel Castro seized power in 1959, many Cubans found themselves at the mercy of the communist dictator. As U.S. sanctions took hold over the course of two decades, the population suffered terrible poverty, persecution, and summary executions. But two young boys who fled in the most difficult circumstances owe a debt of gratitude to U.S. strangers who helped them find sanctuary and gave them hope.

The Fight for Women's Rights
Join Ann Curry as two women search for friends and colleagues who forged a path for equal rights. One of the first female commercial pilots wants to thank her mentor, and an advocate hopes to find the woman who inspired her to join a movement. Most women born into 1950s America were expected to become homemakers and faced inequality in the workplace. But by the 1960s, women were determined to champion equality between the sexes.
