The Whitstable Pearl is thriving and so is Pearl's detective sideline. After a short hiatus, DCI Mike McGuire returns to Whitstable, reenergized, and determined to make progress in his quest for self-healing. He and Pearl continue to make a formidable team as they work through various cases together - Pearl never needing Mike's help as much as he needs hers! As cracks start to show in Pearl and Tom's relationship, and Mike finally comes to terms with how his wife died, will Pearl and Mike finally acknowledge their deep feelings for one another?

Photographer Izzy is knocked unconscious while taking pictures on the beach. Believing the assault is connected to the disappearance of her friend's daughter seven years earlier, Izzy hires Pearl to find out whether the missing woman has returned.

Death, the Devil and the Fool
Tragedy strikes at the town's annual psychic fair when young Saffia wanders off from her nanny. As Pearl works with a psychic who claims she can feel the girl's presence, Mike and Nikki discover that Saffia must have been taken by someone she knows.

Oysters Kilpatrick
As their anniversary nears, Pearl realizes Tom plans to propose on their romantic getaway. While they're gone, a food critic visits the restaurant for a review-but drops dead after his meal. Pearl is torn between staying with Tom and heading back.

Prisoners of the Past
Pearl is surprised to hear a UK ringtone when she calls Charlie-he's supposed to be in Canada. As she goes looking for him in London, back in Whitstable, Mike and Nikki reexamine a 30-year-old case after the convicted man is released from prison.

Walking with Ghosts
On Halloween night, septuagenarian Jacob Cranage thinks he sees a body being buried on the beach. The police investigate and find nothing, but Pearl stays on the case-and soon spots evidence that there may be a missing dead body in Whitstable.

Someone Like Me
A taxi driver is shot dead in his car, and an ex-investment banker narrowly avoids an assassin's bullet. Hired by the banker, Pearl uncovers a surprising connection. Mike receives information that may help him find closure about his wife's death.
