Question of Research
A fake telephone engineer, a suspected white slaver, a beautiful au pair and an irate literary agent are just four of the people in the lives of Rupert and Amy Wilde. How these four individuals shape events is even stranger than one of Rupert's books.

Flower Power
The eccentricity of the series is well to the fore in this episode with elderly ladies listening to rock music and talking of the charts. Roper is desperate to woo Amy much to the disgust of Rupert.

Too Much, Too Often
Rupert and Amy Wilde are broke—again. Friend Helen Bardsley's weekend invitation will at least save them from starving. But they soon wish they had stayed at home…bread and water are preferable to blood and tears.

Things That Go Bump
Rupert's agent Christopher buys a run down house in the country and is convinced he has seen a ghost there, he persuades the Wildes to spend the night in the place to find out if the place is haunted. All three of them end up getting a little more than they bargained for.

The Private Army of Colonel Stone
Colonel Stone returns to England from the desert with a tall story to tell. However, Rupert and Amy do not believe a word of it.

Danny Boy
The Wildes pay a visit to Manchester and during their stay Rupert becomes concerned about a female singer. However, what starts with a pop could well end with a bang as others appear to have a great interest in her too.

Well Enough Alone
The whole city has turned Mexican overnight and Amy and Rupert encounter the mysterious Elena, some aggressive students and a cricket playing Texan. What is really going on? Determined to find out Rupert finds himself threatened with violence.

Express from Rome
Unhappy at the thought of flying in a plane, Rupert persuades Amy that the train is a much safer bet and together they board an express from Rome to Paris. However, this train is far from safe when they quickly discover it is full of shady characters.

A Game for Two Players
Finding a young boy called Steve wandering the streets, the Wildes take it upon themselves to look after him until the authorities can find his family. However, various other people would dearly love to look after him and are willing to go to great inconvenience to do so.

Time and Again
After giving a lecture at the local prison Rupert begins investigating some criminals who appear to have come into a large amount of money. Soon Rupert's questions get him noticed and several thugs corner him wanting to know why he wants to know their business.

Affray in Amsterdam
The Wildes go to Amsterdam. Detective fiction writer Rupert is looking for a plot, but finds instead a beautiful girl hiding in his hotel room. It's fun time for Rupert -- until someone hits him on the head...

A Suspicion of Sudden Death
Everyone including the Doctor attending the emergency believes that Will Carpenter died of a heart attack. However, Amy and Rupert are not so sure when the answers to their questions raise even more baffling questions.

Some Trust in Chariots
Annette is in America, but her sister Debbie keeps seeing her in the UK. In order to convince people that she is not losing her mind, Debbie takes a photograph of her sister. However, when this is developed Annette is nowhere to be seen.
