Wilder Kaiser - Season 1

Eva Leitner is beaming with happiness. After ten years of marriage, she and her husband Johann will finally treat themselves to two weeks' vacation in Italy. Not that Eva is unhappy in the beautiful ski resort of Ellmau, where she and Johann run an idyllic mountain hut together. But working in the tourist industry means that the two of them hardly have any private life. Eva also worries about her childlessness. As a "substitute", the two take care of the parentless Florian, who grows up very close to his grandfather. A helicopter roar causes Eva and Maria, Johann's mother, to be startled. Anita Egger, the boss of the local Bergbahn AG, and Carlo Ambach, a wealthy businessman from Munich, visit the hut to discuss their wedding party with Johann.

Johann hardly recognizes his friend Toni: the mayor has been very quiet, almost introverted, since his wife died. Johann would like to help him, but Toni won't let anyone or anything get close to him. Instead, he tries to smother his grief in tranquilizers. And this has disastrous consequences: When Toni briefly closes his eyes from overtiredness on the drive home from Johann, he drives off the road and crashes into a tree. For a brief moment, Toni believes he has also seen a shadow. But when he finds no one around his car, he believes it is a hallucination.

The PC flies through the closed window pane of a boarding school in a high arc. Constantin, Johann's nephew, has tried his hand at "day trading" and in the process has made a killing, foolishly using his father's capital. Contrite, he sets off to confess to his father about his clandestine action. When he gets home, Constantin is blindsided: the girl his old man is cuddling with on the sofa is clearly his girlfriend! In a fainting rage, Constantin runs away unnoticed by the two of them - and initially seeks refuge with Johann and Eva.

"What an idiot!" Stunned, Johann Leitner looks through his binoculars. The avalanche blast has just ignited. The clueless guy down there must obviously have overlooked the barriers. Before the blaster and the mayor can react, Johann is already hurtling downhill on his skis. At the last second, he pulls the clueless hiker back. As both lie breathless in the snow, it is once again Johann's turn to look stunned, but this time with joy. For lying next to him is unmistakably his own brother Wolfgang. He has managed to pull off the surprise. For he had not informed anyone that he had been called from Boston/USA to Innsbruck University for a 14-day lecture series. Maria is completely over the moon to see her eldest again so unexpectedly.

Canyoning? Canyoning? Did I miss something at school?" asks Maria Leitner, amused and amazed, of the two neoprene-clad figures who tell her about their sport with shining eyes. The two Düsseldorfers want to set up a new "spot" in the nearby Teufelsklamm (Devil's Gorge) and have the strong support of Ellmaus bank boss Hans Lindemeier. He hopes that the project will give him the necessary momentum to beat his opponent Toni Kirchbichler out of the race in the upcoming mayoral election. The fact that humans throw themselves voluntarily a waterfall down, holds however not only Maria for dangerous nonsense. Wolfgang Leitner is also very critical of the project - but from a geological point of view.

Sawmill owner Gruber's logging actions mean a drastic increase in the danger of mudflows and avalanches for Ellmau. Mayor Toni Kirchbichler asks Wolfgang for a scientific report on the soil conditions of the area in question. Wolfgang is of course happy to comply with his friend's request. However, the group of students who are to assist him with the soil analysis includes Gruber's only daughter, Katrin, of all people. Her father is fuming because he cannot dissuade his daughter from taking part in the investigation. Katrin finally spontaneously packs her things and moves out. The next While doing ground work in the forest, Katrin has hit an electric cable and is seriously injured. The cable has been secretly buried in the forest floor by none other than her own father.

The Rübezahlalm is a hive of activity. Maria, Anita and even Pastor Friedl are whirling around the terrace. It's too bad that Wolfgang had to leave for a congress in Paris right now. But Anita doesn't have time for melancholy. Her best friend Lena has arrived with her family. Lena emigrated to the United States almost ten years ago, and it's been that long since they've seen each other.
