Episode 4
This week we visit New South Wales, Australia, where the worst bushfires in recent history are attacking multiple towns, overwhelming firefighters and trapping tourists at a lakefront caravan park. The Philippines is usually resilient to natural disasters, but a 6.4-magnitude earthquake catches everyone off-guard — including a family who are trapped in a swimming pool. In England, it's a fight for survival, as a group of cavers attempt to rescue their colleague from the flooded section of an active cave. And in Kansas, two tornado chasers intercept a terrifying twister.

In downtown Nashville, Tennessee, a violent tornado rakes through the city and interrupts a live news broadcast. At the Hamma Hamma Falls in the State of Washington, a kayaker races to rescue his friend from a terrifying ordeal above a 60-foot waterfall.

Get ready to experience the most extreme elements on earth! In the Grand Canyon, a massive microburst causes a dangerous deluge of mud and rocks to barrel down on a group of kayakers — leaving them in need of urgent medical assistance. In Iowa, a rare derecho storm — similar to an inland hurricane — is caught on camera by a 14-year-old storm junkie. A snowboarder in Utah is left in agony after an off-piste adventure goes wrong — leaving him to rescue himself from a snowy mountain. In a suburban Californian community, wildfires leave families fleeing for their lives. And in Australia, a category three cyclone barrels into a coastal community.

Bushfires in California destroy communities as a passer-by saves stranded drivers from a flaming freeway, and a Swedish skier records the moment he gets buried by an avalanche.

Police officers form a human chain as they attempt the dramatic rescue of a family of four during Tropical Storm Imelda, which unleashed record-breaking floods on Texas.

The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one-third of the time. Good luck, Bill!
