At the border between Jinglan and the Manchu Changmo, there is a frontier fortress called Tianlang Pass. General Xiao Chi, renowned as the "White Horse God of War," is at his subordinate's wedding banquet when he is caught trying to sneak a drink by his guards and the army cook, who forces him to drink drugs. Amid the jeers of the crowd and his pleas for mercy, the bride, Han Yunling, arrives in a red veil to perform the wedding ceremony, and he obstructs her final bow. Just then, someone reports that the bride has been forced into marriage. He swiftly dismisses the groom and imprisons him, then personally interrogates the bride. Upon seeing the bride, he immediately recognizes her as the girl who had stopped him from committing suicide and saved him as a child. He is overjoyed at their reunion but does not express it immediately. After thorough investigation, he learns that she has been forced to marry her subordinate to save her wrongly imprisoned friend Jiang Wanyu. He has Wanyu brought to him and releases the two women. Yunling returns as she does not want to owe him a favor, and she could also tell at a glance that he is critically ill and requires immediate treatment. He begs her not to reveal his condition so as not to cause panic, but she claims that she can cure his illness…
