John puts his meat mallet to work pounding out schnitzel at the Black Forest Inn in Hamilton, Ont. Also: traditional Mexican food in Kamloops, B.C.; and a British pub on Prince Edward Island.

Brunch in Gatineau, Que., is followed by Israeli food in Toronto. Also: gourmet pizza in Winnipeg.

John learns about smoking meat during a visit to Caplansky's Delicatessen in Toronto; and orders up some fresh seafood at the Wildside Grill in Tofino, B.C. Also: a Vancouver restaurant that serves Asian-style waffles.

The Canadian dish poutine is served with a Caribbean twist at The Reef in Vancouver. Other stops include Smokin' George's BBQ in Nanaimo, B.C.; and Mickey's Dragon Pizza in Mississauga, Ont.

John learns a croque-madame recipe during a visit to the restaurant Tess in Halifax, N.S.; and discovers the art of making samosas at the Tibetan Kitchen in Victoria, B.C. Also: Cinnamon buns are prepared at Edmonton's Highlevel Diner.

John explores the menu at the Klondike Rib and Salmon BBQ in Whitehorse, Yukon; and tries poutine fit for Christmas dinner at Colette's Family Restaurant in Glace Bay, N.S. Also: kebabs cooked on real swords at a Turkish eatery in Edmonton.

John explores what's good to eat at the Burger's Priest in Toronto; and finds a mix of Salvadorian and Mexican food at EE Burritos Restaurant in Saskatoon, Sask. Also: a trip to Hamilton, Ont., for pizza crust.

Flavor 19, a restaurant located on a golf course in Sydney, N.S., is featured. Also: Creole dishes served at Louisiana Purchase in Edmonton; and pastries from Rocket Bakery and Fresh Food in St. John's, N.L.

John meets with the Scotsman owner of Shine Café in Victoria, B.C. Also: three Toronto brothers who specialize in Vietnamese-style sandwiches; and an Ontario chef's take on Southern cooking.

John visits Murray Street in Ottawa, Ont., to try their potato-less poutine topped with duck confit and "beast" gravy. Other stops include Fanny Chadwick's in Toronto; and a Yukon restaurant that specializes in Caribbean food.

John finds an authentic Philly cheesesteak in Vancouver; in Orangeville, Ont., he tries a "reggae wrap"; and he visits Murray's Sandwich Emporium in Toronto.

John experiences the flavors of Naples, Italy, during a visit to Via Tevere Pizzeria in Vancouver; and checks out a diner in Langley, B.C., that has been serving comfort food since the 1940s. Also: the Crepe House in Port Dover, Ont.

John orders spaghetti at the Black Skirt in Toronto; has brunch at L'Avenue in Montreal; and explores the Latin cuisine offered at El Camino's in Vancouver.

John checks out the Bungalow in London, Ont. Later, he orders waffle burgers and "ants on a log" at the Rumpus Room in Vancouver; and explores the selection of fresh seafood at Big Fish in Calgary.
