Young Black Jack is a prequel to Osamu Tezuka's classic series about a brilliant maverick doctor who practices without a license. Ōkuma and author Tabata launched the ongoing series in Young Champion in 2011. The prequel follows Black Jack when he was still a medical student in the 1960s.
