In a country dump, the corpse of a raped and mummified girl was found, in whose hand a tuft of hair was clamped. Based on the remains of the girl, criminologists reconstruct her appearance, and thanks to a television report, investigators find the girl's mother, Veronica Rybakova, who was away for a long time, and her daughter Nina lived with a neighbor, but then disappeared without a trace. Soon, another girl, Olga Marycheva, is missing. Olga's mother, Ritka, is a drug addict who reports that she gave her daughter to an unknown man. A clump of hair held in the hand of a child's corpse turns out to be part of a wig used to make antique dolls.
