Two major rival cocoa families, the Desva and the Ahitey, are engaged in a merciless battle for control of cocoa production and trade in the Caodji region.

At their head are two unscrupulous clan leaders: the influential and wealthy Élie Desva, from the Ivorian cocoa aristocracy, and the crude and excessive self-made man Jean Ahitey. A ruthless confrontation that reveals the workings of the little-known world of cocoa in West Africa. Forced to return to the country after the assassination attempt of which his parents were victims, Anthony Desva is propelled in spite of himself at the head of the family business. Again exposed to his roots, he will rediscover the fascinating world of cocoa and the charm of its best protector: Manuela Ahitey.
