Towa no Yugure follows Akira, a male high school student who is put into cold sleep and awakens 200 years in the future in a world devastated by war. Society is now ruled by a unified organization called OWEL, and the traditional concept of marriage has been replaced by a system called "Elsie" (or "LC"). Upon waking, Akira is greeted by an android named Yugure, who bears a striking resemblance to his former girlfriend, Towasa. Yugure immediately proposes marriage to Akira, leaving him confused and uncertain. Believing that Towasa may still exist somewhere in this world, Akira sets out on a journey with Yugure in search of the truth.
