From preparing land for planting, welcoming new arrivals, to milking and mucking out, Farmers' time is precious, and they can't be in a million places at once. But machines can help sort that, and the Nicholson family are all for saving time, especially when the spring lambing season is on the horizon. So, Rob and Dave bring in sheep scanner man Robert Garth so they know how many lambs to expect at springtime.

Jules Hudson visits a soft fruit farm in Kent and discovers how robots are transforming the rural labour market by helping spot fungal infections that are threatening strawberry crops.

In Lincolnshire, farmer Ian Watson shows off his high-tech kit that allows him to optimise the pea harvest and his powerful new machine that has revolutionised working methods.
