Episode 6

The summer months mean show season in the UK. Agricultural shows and competitions unite the rural community and celebrate the very best in farming.
The Nicholson family have a long history of competing at the Penistone Show and know that to win a rosette takes a lot of hard work, which starts long before show day. Rob and Dave, with the help of daughter Katie and granddaughter Nelly head to Mill Farm to choose a duck and a drake to put before the judges. Meanwhile, Ruth is with Blossom finessing the plaiting to use on show day and Roger is concentrating on getting his Dutch Spotted Sheep ready for competition.
Chef Tim Bilton visits Oxfordshire and discovers that, in some competitions, size really does matter as he discovers how to grow a 1400lb Atlantic Giant Pumpkin
Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright meets champion sheep breeder Andrew Fisher in North Yorkshire and helps out with his new arrivals.
Entering the ring at an agricultural show for the first time can be a real baptism of fire as JB Gill finds out when he prepares to step out at the hotly contested Alpaca show, the largest in Europe.
Winning during the show season takes practice, and one young couple new to farming explain how they had to forge their own path to achieve their dream of rearing rare breed pigs.
Scarecrows are the unsung heroes of the farming community, but they are the centre of attention in the autumn calendar when local communities hold scarecrow festivals. Rob and Dave head to South Yorkshire to take part in a hotly contested scarecrow competition.
And machine enthusiast Reuben Owen gets involved in an unusual farming competition as he settles into the driving seat and puts his motoring skills to the test at a Lawnmower race in Hertfordshire.
