Maxime Rivière, a friend of Commissioner Bachert, is the victim of a recurring nightmare concerning the murder of the Tibetan monk. Astrid makes the connection with the unsolved murder of the llama Tulku Lingpa, on May 20, 1996, in a monastery in Île-de-France. On their way there, the commissioner, who turns out to be a Buddhist, Raphaëlle, Astrid and Nicolas discover disturbing elements that question the guilt of the perpetrator of the murder, a drug addict who was prowling in the nearby forest. According to Raphaëlle, the crime was committed inside the monastery.

Philippe Desmond, 65, is found dead at home, victim of an Aztec ritual sacrifice. The heart of this former archaeologist turned treasure hunter was extracted from his rib cage and then placed in a sacred urn. Raphaëlle and Astrid then go in search of the victim's adopted son, Necalli Cantu, a young Mexican living hidden in a forest. Questioned, the latter reveals to Raphaëlle that his father had found the Eldorado, the mythical land of South America supposed to be full of gold. According to him, he was killed because of his discovery...
