In the remote Ghanim region of the Maghreb, two Quebec engineers are taken hostage. Rachel oversees—on orders from Ottawa—a failed attempt to capture Robin Denard, a French mercenary passing through Montreal.

The hunt for Denard escalates, but he foils it and taunts the SSC. Thomassin, who is investigating the hostage situation, consults Philip Miller, who has fallen from grace.

Rachel meets Uncle Sergei, the station chief of the Russian intelligence services; she learns from him that Denard is in Montreal to carry out a commissioned assassination.

Anne and her lover Theo see firsthand what Denard is capable of. Rachel is forced to meet with Philip to share some bad news. One of the hostages gives in to the mercenaries' pressure and hands over valuable information.

A clue begins to uncover Denard's trail, one step at a time. Rachel's colleagues discover that she's been hiding things from them about Denard. Rachel continues to grow closer to Fabien.

Théo receives anonymous information about Rachel that catches his attention. Denard and Rachel's shared professional past resurfaces and further confuses the issue.

The management team now doubts Rachel after Denard's latest trap. Shaken, Rachel distrusts those around her and can only rely on Valérie. Valérie carries out a highly dangerous operation under Irène's watchful eye.

Rachel uncovers one of Denard's accomplices. She discovers how he manages to always be one step ahead of her. Rachel asks Thomassin to cut ties with his uncle. Denard meets with the head of a drug cartel.

Rachel negotiates with one of Denard's accomplices, and the hunt for him intensifies. To save his colleague, one of the two hostages reveals all his secrets to the mercenaries.

A rescue operation is organized to free the hostages at Ghanim. Rachel puts the final pieces of her revenge into action as her rivalry with Denard intensifies when he attacks one of her loved ones.
