Missing, Presumed Dead
After being shot down over Germany, Flight Lieutenant Simon Carter is sent to Prisoner of War camp Octenlager II. Caged and impatient to escape, Carter decides to jump the queue.

Name, Rank and Number
The Gestapo is puzzled by Lieutenant Richard Player. Is he a British spy? He is sent to Berlin and entrusted to Count von Eissinger, who is determined to establish the truth.

Welcome to Colditz
Lieutenant Colonel Preston, the new Senior British Officer, arrives at Colditz in time to witness an abortive escape attempt. Preston's attitude towards this fiasco suggests to the Kommandant of Colditz that here is a man with whom he could come to terms.

At Colditz, insubordination is treated as a court martial offence. It also means a train journey to Leipzig and an opportunity to escape.

The body of a German corporal is discovered in the Parcels Office, but despite evidence of murder, the Kommandant treats the matter as one of suicide.

The Way Out
Flt Lt Carrington is entrusted with a delicate task which leads to a daring attempt to escape.

Flt-Lt Carter gains valuable knowledge of the German garrison which makes an ingenious escape plan possible.

Flt-Lt Carter has been caught trying to escape but has managed to pass on valuable information which has made a previous escape plan possible. Capt Grant has been relieved of his duties as Escape Officer to lead them but..."The best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley".
