In "De Kroongetuigen' journalist Jeroen Wils reconstructs the case Decommere, a retired man who killed two of his partners out of jealousy. On the basis of the testimony from investigators and survivors' he tells the story.
On Friday, January 29th, 1993 at 7:30 am the Newport police recieved a telephone call from a doctor. He informs them that one of his patients is deceased, the 43-year-old Annie Cloet. What forensics find in the house, is still burned onto their retinas: the woman lying naked in the bath, her wrists are slit.
It's her husband, retired Jean-Pierre Decommere who found the body. Everything points to suicide, but the family did not believe.
Second murder
Eleven years later, the West Coast police receive a call for a new incident at the home of Decommere. Again there is a body of a woman in the apartment, severely damaged. It's Annie Devos, the new partner of Decommere.
This time, he confesses to the murder. "He thought that his partner would leave him for someone else and that he could not cope," says forensic psychiatrist Hans Hellebuyck "From the reasoning:. If I can't have her, no one will. So she had to die. "
