Firmenchef Ferdinand Lob wird in seiner Villa leblos aufgefunden. Alles deutet zunächst auf eine natürliche Todesursache hin. Frau Stockl bekommt allerdings mit, dass Ferdinands Sohn Thomas bereits dabei ist, eilig Wertgegenstände aus dem Haus zu schaffen. Der emsigen Sekretärin lassen die mysteriösen Umstände keine Ruhe. Sie vermutet ein Verbrechen, vielleicht sogar einen Mord. Sie setzt Polizeihauptmeister Mohr und Polizeiobermeisterin Arnbruck auf diese Spur. Vor Ort lässt sich jedoch nichts Auffälliges feststellen. Also alles nur falscher Alarm? Doch da meldet sich Christiane Häberlein im Kommissariat.
Sie war die Haushälterin des Verstorbenen, und auch sie vermutet ein Verbrechen. Wie Rechtsmedizinerin Dimos feststellt, wurde das Opfer tatsächlich vergiftet. Bei den Ermittlungen der Kommissare Stadler und Hecht rücken Michaela Lob, die junge Ehefrau des Opfers, und sein Sohn Thomas in den Fokus der Kommissare. Beide hätten ein Interesse daran, an das Erbe zu kommen. Doch am Todestag war auch der langjährige Geschäftsführer von „Lob und Sohn Fruchtsäfte", Konstantin Aigner, bei Ferdinand Lob zu Besuch.
