A new person comes into Ballouz's life: Eva, the manager of the hospital laundry. Ballouz takes his dirty shirts there when his washing machine breaks down due to a lightning strike. The beginning of a friendship or even more? When Mark repeats his invitation to dinner, Barbara hesitates. She is actually open to a new relationship, but colleagues are taboo for Barbara. But the case of a young man who is admitted because of a lovelorn suicide attempt makes her change her mind. Michelle and Vincent still need to talk because Vincent sneaked out of the apartment after sex.

Finn and his mother Steffi are on a canoe trip when the boy suddenly collapses. Dr. Ballouz takes care of the little one who is suffering from an incurable illness. The canoe trip is one item on Finn's list of things he wants to experience before he dies. But Ballouz doubts whether Finn's list is still correct. In private, he is unsure how to behave towards Eva after seeing her wedding ring. Hanna and Jan dream of a future together in the Uckermark and have purchased a farm in need of renovation on which they want to cultivate old seeds. When Hannah threatens to lose her sight, their shared dream seems to shatter. Mark and Barbara have their first date. Mark surprises Barbara with his choice of restaurant: a burger grill at a rest stop. Michelle is surprised when she meets Leo, Vincent's autistic brother. Why didn't Vincent ever tell her about him?

Alte Liebe, neue Liebe
Emmi and Peter Hansen want to fulfill their lifelong dream and travel to Paris by boat. But Doctor Ballouz's diagnosis presents both of them with a major challenge. He diagnoses Emmi with colon cancer, which is no longer curable at this stage. Peter finds out about the diagnosis earlier and asks Ballouz not to say anything to his wife so that she can experience the last few days carefree and they can start their journey. Ole Brenner has been waiting for a new kidney for over six years when the call finally comes: a suitable donor kidney has been found. But when Barbara and Mark receive the organ, they make a terrible discovery: the kidney was prepared incorrectly and cannot be transplanted to Ole. As Ole's condition worsens, his husband Ralf offers to donate one of his kidneys.

When the former doctor Mr. Lampert comes to the clinic with gallstones, he tells Mark about his daughter to rethink his relationship with his parents. Mr. Lampert's greatest wish was for his daughter to take over his practice. Nevertheless, he is proud that she went her own way. But then Mark learns that Mr. Lampert has not had any contact with his daughter for many years. A young couple is admitted after a car accident. While her husband Tom quickly gets better, Anja has to be put into an artificial coma with serious injuries. Tom watches over his wife's bedside day and night. When Anja wakes up from her coma, she cannot remember marrying this man. With the memory, her love for Tom has also disappeared. He desperately fights to win her back.

Doctor Ballouz and Eva enjoy their new happiness. Until Ballouz meets Annett in the hospital, who reminds him a lot of his late wife Mara. Ballouz's memories of Mara plunge him into emotional chaos. When he learns that Annett has a donor heart, he investigates. Does Annett's late wife's heart beat? After a fight, Vincent ends up as a patient in the clinic. He has his autistic brother Leo in tow, who would otherwise be home alone. Leo finds his way around the unfamiliar hospital environment surprisingly well. He gets to know the young Melli, who, after leukemia treatment and weeks of isolation, is finally released as cured, but remains sitting in the foyer because she no longer dares to go outside. Leo and Melli become friends. Vincent realizes that Leo needs him less than he wanted to believe.

Zweite Chance
Prof. Frey wants to refer the mother of three Doreen to a psychiatric clinic. But Michelle believes there is a physical cause for Doreen's suffering and investigates. Doreen complains of numerous symptoms, but examinations by various doctors confirm that she is in perfect health. Because of her changed behavior, she is in danger of losing her family. Michelle is her last chance. Dr. Ballouz screwed up. His chance for a new life with Eva is lost. He escapes to work, eats too many sweets and surrenders to his single life with his cat Brigitte. Cindy, whose cancer has returned, refuses treatment. Ballouz repeatedly implores Cindy not to give up. Until Cindy finally says to him: "I'll only fight again if you do the same. When he meets the patient Maria Kerr, who comes to the clinic after falling on her bicycle, Mark becomes thoughtful.
