Young Mr. Grace has died and the Grace Brothers department store has closed. The former staff attend a reading of his will, and find they have inherited a hotel.
Horse and Cart
After their first night in their own hotel the former staff of Grace Brothers are settling into their new roles. However, they need money to get the hotel running.
Court
Mrs. Slocombe finds herself in court for stealing a horse-drawn cart and Mr. Humphries' relationship with Mavis Moulterd continues to develop.
Interviews
A party of Americans have come to stay at the Millstone Country Hotel for a weekend. It means £1,000 plus tips, so the staff set about bringing the ageing hotel up to scratch.
Good Help is Hard to Find
After the interviews for staff fail miserably, the former Grace Brothers team must work at their own hotel. In the night, a storm knocks out the electricity with scary results.

The former staff of Grace Brothers have now taken on their new roles as staff at the Millstone Country Hotel, but their having trouble settling in.

In each episode, contestants are challenged with a signature bake, a technical bake, and a showstopper, with judges critiquing their creations and ultimately selecting a "Star Baker" and eliminating one contestant each week. The show tests their baking skills, creativity, and prowess under pressure.
