Recent events test Tom and Christina. Meanwhile, nursing responsibilities create friction between Bobbie and Christina; a flirty Camille tries to woo Tom's apprentice.

Renata's mother falls ill, so he turns to Christina for help. Elsewhere, a pesky internal-affairs sleuth arrives at James River to investigate recent events; and Camille is offered a hospital job despite her flirty overtures toward Miles.

Internal-affairs investigator Jimmy Dupree continues to snoop into an attack at the hospital and sharpens his focus on Renata. Meanwhile, the day of a health fair is tarnished by a possible bacteria outbreak; and recent developments haunt Morrissey.
