Ex-wife Crystal arrives from the States, and the Hoff is delighted to hear her say she still loves him, leading to an unwise meeting from which he is extricated by Harriet before the hoax is rumbled.

The plan backfires when Hoff falls under the spell of a patient (Alex McQueen) who persuades him to join him on a rooftop to perform astral projection with potentially fatal consequences.

Hostilities are increased when bridesmaid Annabelle accuses Greg of killing her dog and when, next morning, the Hoff is nowhere to be found, his friends fear for his safety - though only with partial cause as it turns out.
