The episode starts with Tom hanging up the phone in the lunch area of the factory he works at. Charlie enters and goes to the phone. He asks Tom if he told Mary about the bomb scare. Tom tells him he didn't, but he did tell her he wasn't coming home after work. Charlie replies with an ""Oh."" This frustrates Tom because of the way Charlie said it. Tom grabs Charlie and forces him to sit down. Charlie tells him that even a rock can tell that there is something wrong between Tom and Mary. Tom says it's not like he's not interested in Mary--there's just something missing. George enters and says the bomb scare is over. At the Shumway Residence, Martha is preparing dinner as Cathy prepares to go on a date. Martha has gotten a letter from Judge Stanley due to Grandpa Larkin missing one of his councilling sessions. If he misses another one, he'll have to go to jail. Cathy says they're bluffing. Martha talks about what her mother Grace used to say..that if you keep your home nice and neat and ma
