A Buffet of Flowers

Mega Dens invades a 1920s bungalow to give one family some room to sprawl out. Blowing through an entry hallway to make it part of the expanded living room is a start but there's a mess to deal with, including old crumbling plaster, an unsafe dual-sided fireplace and animal skeletons in the walls. Anitra and the guys shore up the structural issues and trick the place out with custom furniture, like an antique sofa reupholstered with colorful saris, a hutch painted bright blue and cut in half to become two units, a hand-waxed desktop and wall shelving made from live-edge planks of tree with the bark still intact. Sleek tile graces the fireplaces, repurposed mantles go up, and one-of-a-kind artwork is placed on top to finish this Mega Den in style. In addition, Anitra gains a new admirer when she grants the gaming system wish of a love-struck eight-year-old boy.
