Der ganze Mathekurs ist panisch, weil ausgerechnet der penible und unangenehme Lehrer Schnaase die Mathevertretung übernehmen soll. Alex hat als einzige keine Angst vor ihm: Gelassen liest sie sogar Zeitung während des Unterrichts - was Schnaase natürlich nicht hinnehmen kann: Er verdonnert den Kurs zu einem Test. Als das Ergebnis ein paar Tage später feststeht, hat Alex eine Fünf bekommen, obwohl sie nur wenige Fehler gemacht hat. Claudia und Niko erklären Alex, dass die ungerechte Note eine Sanktion für ihr aufmüpfiges Verhalten im Unterricht ist. Alex will die Ungerechtigkeit nicht auf sich sitzen lassen und stellt Schnaase wütend zur Rede. Doch Schnaases Erklärung dafür, warum er Alex so schlecht benotet hat, nimmt dieser auf verblüffende Weise den Wind aus den Segeln... Auch zu Hause hat Alex keine Ruhe, denn Anke und Hendrik verbringen jede freie Minute damit, Kontakt zu den neu eingezogenen Nachbarn herzustellen und provozieren dabei eine Peinlichkeit nach der anderen...
