Cardinal Kevin Farrell was handpicked by Pope Francis to be camerlengo, which involves running the Vatican in the days between when a pontiff passes away and another is chosen. Earlier in the week, he will lie in state, and members of the public will be able to pay their respects. More than 200 educational institutions joined together to sign a statement against the Trump administration condemning what they say is government overreach and political interference. The letter comes after Harvard University sued the federal government after the Trump administration said they will slash billions of dollars in research funds. NBC News' Stephanie Gosk has more. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary announced they'll remove petroleum-based synthetic dyes from the nation's food supply. The U.S. has reported more than 8,000 cases of whooping cough cases this year, more than double from this time last year. Elon Musk told investors during a Tesla earnings call on Tuesday that his time at the Department of Government Efficiency will drop significantly starting in May.
