Darragh Maloney presents coverage of one of the most eagerly awaited evenings of the Games, as the swimming competition reaches a conclusion at La Defense Arena and the men's 100m takes place on the track at the Stade de France at 8.55. America's global superstar Noah Lyles is the reigning world champion and the man to beat, but British hopeful Zharnel Hughes will seek to exorcise the memory of his disqualification at Tokyo 2020, while Botswana's world silver medallist Letsile Tebogo is another strong contender. Other races scheduled are the opening round of the men's 400m from 6.05, the women's high jump final from 6.50, the men's 100m semi-finals at 7.00, the men's hammer final from 7.30, the women's 800m semi-final at 7.40 and the semi-finals of the men's 1500m at 8.15. World-class sprinting will also take place at the pool, with the 4x100m medley final at 6.12, and Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom is the favourite for gold in the women's 50m freestyle at 5.30. There is expected to be Irish interest in the longest race of the night, with Daniel Wiffen expected to battle the USA's Bobby Finke for the men's 1500m freestyle title at 5.36, and the women's 4x100m medley relay final concludes the competition at 6.35
