One year has passed since the decisive battle at Laqua. Roy, who continues his adventures with Captain Pikachu, learns of a Pokémon exhibiting unusual behavior and begins an investigation. Then, a boy named Ult appears with a Sableye... What Roy and Ult witness in the forest is a Slaking running amok due to the influence of Lacrium!? Why is Lacrium, which they thought they had destroyed, still around? Meanwhile, Riko is attending Sekiei Academy...

After the decisive battle in Laqua, Riko returns to Sekiei Academy and resumes her student life. Pagogo of Terrapagos seems to have exhausted its power, as it hasn't emerged from its Poké Ball since... Then Roy comes to Riko. Roy tells her that he has found traces of Lacrima and that Riko's power is needed to completely destroy it—

Determined to uncover the truth about the Rising Volteckers, Rico and Roy embark on another journey. They gather information from Dot and pursue Pokémon affected by Lacrium. Their destination reveals countless holes in the ground and traces of Lacrium…! Suddenly, a ferocious Steelix appears! Faced with Steelix's impenetrable defenses, how will Rico and Roy fare?!

Gurumin receives a report of a sighting of a black Rayquaza! Riko and Roy head to the town where the witness lives. There they encounter Nyabiko, a fervent Gurumin fan. However, her attitude changes completely when she learns that Riko and the others are the Rising Volteckers. A battle ensues! Nyabiko sends out Incineroar. It's at a disadvantage in terms of type matchup against Mascanya, but what will Riko do?!

Hearing that more and more Pokémon are falling ill in the forest, Riko and her friends begin an investigation, wondering if it's due to the influence of Lacrima. There, they encounter Molly, who is treating wild Pokémon that have been poisoned! Just as they are happy to be reunited with Molly, who now works at the Pokémon Center, they hear frightened cries from deep within the forest...! When they head there, they find a Vileplume rampaging and spreading poison...!?

Rico and Roy infiltrate Exceed's test center, where a demonstration battle for the new product, "Strong Sphere," is taking place. When the Pokémon use "Strong Sphere," they become incredibly strong. However, their reactions are similar to those seen when they received Lacrium...! Meanwhile, Ult also arrives at the test center...

A black Rayquaza has been spotted near Fusube City, the town where a family of dragon trainers lives? Riko and her friends hear this and head out to investigate, only to be confronted by a trio of masked figures riding lizards! They call themselves the "Dragon Rampage Gang"! They seem to know something about Rayquaza, but... they suddenly challenge them to a battle...!?

Dot visits Hakkou City after receiving a call from Nanjamo. Apparently, there have been many pranks in the city that are scaring Pokémon... When he checks the footage, he finds out that the culprit is none other than Magikarp!? Its unusually fast movements... could it be the effect of Lacrima...? Who will appear before Dot when he heads out into the city to investigate...!?

Riko and her friends are reunited with Murdoch in Cercle Town! They tell him that they have reformed the Rising Volteckers and are investigating Lacrium. Murdoch is worried to hear this... Meanwhile, Gym Leader Kaede proposes... a Pokémon battle between Riko and Kaede!?

Riko and her friends arrive at the factory in Karna, Galar, to meet Orio. They ask him to build them an airship, but he refuses, telling them to "try somewhere else." Just as Riko and her friends are at a loss, Cap senses something and runs off into the forest! What they find there is... none other than the Brave Asagi, the airship they thought had been dismantled!

Rico, Roy, Dot, and Ult find themselves battling the Explorers at Karna's factory. They're having a tough time against the Paldea Centaurs, who have been strengthened by the Strong Spheres! They observe the Centaurs' movements, searching for a way to defeat them...!? And what does Olio think when he sees Rico and his friends not giving up...?

Riko and her friends arrive at Orange Academy to meet with Omodaka and Principal Clavel to uncover the truth about the Strong Sphere. They also go to Zinnia to learn about the relationship between Lacrium and Pokémon. And Roy is reunited with Nemo! They're going to battle for the first time in a long time!! Lucario vs. Parmot! A heated battle between two fighting-type Pokémon begins...!

Arriving at the ruins in the Paldea region, Rico and his friends split up to begin investigating the Lacrium Sign! However, Roy, Ult, and Dot are manipulated by Korekurae and become engrossed in searching for the coins! Meanwhile, Rico meets Karatou, a student from Orange Academy who is looking for his partner Scovillain. And Pagogo is reunited with a certain Pokémon at the ruins...!

A collaboration event between Nanjamo and Gurumin has been announced! Riko, a Gurumin fan, is overjoyed. Jill, also a big Gurumin fan from the Explorers, was also planning to attend the event. However, Jill loses the numbered ticket she finally managed to get... Riko and her friends meet the dejected Jill and decide to help her find the ticket...!?

Joining Jill and Conia in their search for Amegio, Rico visits Amegio's family home. There, she finds a photograph of Amegio as a child. The photo was taken during a family trip, the only one they ever took... With this small clue as their only hope, the three head to the island! Will they be able to find Amegio...?

Amidst a fierce storm, Amegio flies on Corviknight. Just as he's about to fall into the sea, he's saved by... Mighty G!? The two decide to take a rest in a nearby cave until the storm passes, and for some reason, they end up making curry rice...!? And when the storm is over, Riko and the others arrive at the beach where SurfGo appears...

After a fight with Roy, Ult runs away from home!? Leaving the ship, Ult meets a boy named Rayu who has a Tagingle, and they become friends. The two talk about their Pokémon. Ult shows Rayu his precious Dark Ball, saying, "There's definitely a Mega Awesome Pokémon inside!" But when he wakes up the next morning, the Dark Ball is gone!?

Ult infiltrates the Explorers' hideout, but is discovered and captured! Just when Ult is in dire straits, Roy appears to rescue him! They try to escape, but Rubella and Indy stand in their way... Roy and Ult struggle against the Pokémon enhanced by the Strong Sphere. And then, Ult's Dragonite appears—!?

Riko's grandmother, Diana, has returned to the ship after a long absence! The new information Diana has uncovered is a way to completely erase Lacrium...!? And, in order to train Riko's Karbou, Riko and Diana will battle each other! How will Karbou fare against a fellow fire-type Arcanine--!?

In order to create the ultimate hammer, Nakanuchan is once again energetically searching for iron! However, just when he finds his favorite piece of iron, it's confiscated by a truck... Returning to the airship, Nakanuchan can't forget the iron and dives out of the airship as it's about to take off—!? Meanwhile, Sango and Onyx are traveling in an Armorga Taxi...

Riko and her friends arrive at the Exceed Corporation facility to meet Amegio's father, Crave. However, the Explorers are waiting for them! It was all a trap they had set!? The Six Hero Pokémon, who were being held captive by the Explorers, go berserk. To calm the Six Heroes, Riko and her friends challenge them to a battle—!?

Just when they succeeded in purifying Lacrium with the power of Pagogo, the Six Hero Pokémon began to rampage again due to the Super Strong Sphere at maximum output! Overwhelmed by their immense strength, Riko and the others are in dire straits. Who is the person who appears to save them in this time of crisis...? Will they be able to calm the rampaging Six Heroes and bring them back?!

After the Rising Volteckers disbanded, Roy continues his journey. Together with Captain Pikachu, he visits Lumiose City in the Kalos region. There, he meets a boy named Ult who is accompanied by a Sableye. Now, the story of Roy and Ult's Mega Evolution training and their encounter with a yellow Lucario is revealed! The Mega Special Episode begins!

Roy and Ult are defeated in a battle against a yellow Lucario nicknamed "Yellow Blast." As they prepare to challenge Lucario again, Master Mayonnaise appears before them. He proposes a Pokémon battle between Roy and Ult! However, Ult struggles to work well with his Sableye... The road to becoming Mega Strongest is fraught with difficulties—!?

As Roy and his friends seek revenge against the yellow Lucario, they are confronted by a mysterious duo: Count Oyster and the ninja Shoyu! Roy and Ult join forces, connecting with their Pokémon and taking on the battle! And then, Lucario reappears before them once again! Will Roy and his friends be able to master the power of bonds, "Mega Evolution"!?

Riko and her friends arrive at Blueberry Academy, a school known for its vibrant Pokémon battle scene, to train! There, they meet Taro, one of the Elite Four of the Blueberry League! Guided by Taro, Riko and her friends explore the school's terrarium dome. They also reunite with Ann and Nemo! Roy even gets to battle Nemo for the first time in a long time...!?

To become stronger, Riko and her friends begin battling various Pokémon in the Terrarium Dome! However, Ult goes missing almost immediately...! Meanwhile, Roy begins training under Kakitsubata, one of the Bluebell League's Elite Four! Kakitsubata's training, whose motto is "relaxed," is rather unconventional...!

Taro tells Ult to train by studying about Pokémon...!? Ult is hesitant, but Taro proposes a battle with the condition that "if you lose, you have to do what I say!" Ult confidently challenges Taro's Excadrill, but... struggles greatly. He's even given a Pokémon quiz during the battle, which leaves him even more confused...!?

Riko accepts Anne's invitation to "search for Ditto blocks." Along the way, she ends up battling Anne's Samurott. Seeing that Hatenna seems to be holding back on what it wants to do out of consideration for Mascanya and Carbo, Riko gently tells it, "It's okay to do what you want to do." Furthermore, they are discovered by Rubella and Indy! Agate also appears, putting Dot and the others in a desperate situation! Will they be able to escape from the Exceed Museum safely?!

Fried is finally coming back! Rico and the others head to the landing point to rendezvous with Fried's spaceship as it returns from space. However, a problem occurs with Fried's spaceship, and the parachute won't open!? At this rate, it will crash into the ground...! Faced with this dire situation, a desperate rescue operation for Fried begins!

Freed returns from his space research. He recounts his encounter with Instructor Starmie and the new information he has gathered about Lacrium. Roy then finds himself battling Freed—and if he loses, the Rising Volteckers will be disbanded!? Roy and Loudbone challenge Freed and his Charizard, figures they've always admired! Can Roy surpass Freed?!

The Rising Volteckers are waiting for Rico's grandmother, Diana, on an airship. Suddenly, they notice that Murdoch and the others are gone. Rico, Roy, Dot, and Wult split up to search for them. What they find are adults approaching them, performing a creepy, brisk dance! As they flee in panic, one by one, they disappear... There is "something" on this ship...

Rico and his team have learned that the Six Heroes are being held captive at the Explorers headquarters. With Amegio joining them, they begin their operation to rescue the Six Heroes! Just when it seemed the operation was going smoothly after successfully infiltrating the headquarters, Rubella and Indy stand in their way...! Rico's Carbo and Amegio's Sowblaze face off. Can they combine their strength and break through?!

Rico and her friends finally reach the Six Heroes. However, Spinel's scheme separates them... And they find themselves fighting the Six Heroes one-on-one, wielding the Super Strong Spheres!? It's a desperate situation, but Rico and her friends stand up to the challenge with the power they've gained through their training! All for the sake of reclaiming the Six Heroes!

Rico and her friends visit Orange Academy to stop the release of Strong Sphere. Thanks to Principal Clavel's intervention, they are able to ban its use on campus. However, Bokko, who was with them during their Terrastar training, is not convinced... Bokko challenges Rico to a battle. If she loses, the ban on Strong Sphere will be lifted—!?

Determined to eliminate Lacrium, Rico and her friends are ready to become even stronger. Not only Nemo and his group, but also Hassaku, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Paldea, will be helping them with their battle training! Rico vs. Ann, Roy vs. Nemo, Dot vs. Button, Ult vs. Hassaku—their all-out, serious training begins as they aim for even greater strength!

Dot decides to leave his position as a Terrace-type trainer and take on a support role. However, in Dot's absence, Welkam is diligently training for battles. Seeing this, Nanjamo points out that Dot isn't connecting with his Pokémon on an emotional level and challenges Dot to a battle! Dot is at the mercy of Nanjamo and Harabari. But seeing Welkam's unwavering determination, what will happen next?

To meet the black Rayquaza, Roy and his friends visit the Dragon Shrine. Roy confesses his feelings to Rayquaza. Receiving his feelings, Rayquaza, with the help of Pagogo's power, transforms into Dragon Terrastar! Then, a battle begins, as if to test Roy and Ult's strength. This time, they will become true partners... VS Black Rayquaza, now is the time for the final showdown!?

The Strong Sphere is finally released and used all over the world... Rico and the others are determined to finally eliminate Lacrium. Meanwhile, Sango, Onyx, and Agate, who are on guard duty in Lacrium, are confronted by... Hambell! A fierce battle begins between the three against Hambell, their former mentor who trained them—!?

Freed arrives in Hakkou City to meet up with the Rising Volteckers. However, he finds himself being followed by a suspicious figure... Meanwhile, as Riko and the others prepare to head to Rakua, 18 Terrace-type trainers, including Nemo, Button, and Ann, begin to gather. And then, some unexpected people show up...!?

Having been defeated by Master Mayonnaise and failing to acquire a new Mega Evolution, Roy and Lucario are left frustrated. Roy suggests that Lucario take it easy...!? Then, they battle Master Mayonnaise's Hawlucha again. What they discover during the battle is a new way to use Aura—and what they grasp beyond that is a new Mega Evolution—!?

The plan to completely wipe out Lacrium is finally about to begin! The group splits into two and heads towards the center of Lacrium. As Rico and the others make their way through the forest, they are confronted by Rubella and Indy. They unleash Deathscar and Deathburn, whose power has been amplified by the Strong Sphere! Dot, Nemo, and Button stay behind to battle, leaving Rico to go ahead...!?

Roy Ult-Fried clashes with Coral Onyx Agate! As their Mega Evolved Pokémon engage in a fierce battle, what key to victory will Roy and his team discover...? Meanwhile, Rico and her friends reunite with Amegio and reach the center of Rakua. What will they see there...?

Powered by Pagogo's Stellaform, the 18 Pokémon begin to transform one after another. Meanwhile, the Explorers launch a full-scale attack to prevent Lacrim from disappearing! Even in this desperate situation, Rico and her friends refuse to give up and continue to fight. However, a certain action taken by Spinel awakens the Lacrim Core...!?

Having absorbed Spinel, the awakened Lacrim Core unleashes its fury! The Explorers join forces with Rico and his friends, resulting in a fierce all-out battle, but there's only one chance to destroy the core with maximum firepower…!? At that moment, Rayquaza and Zygarde respond to Roy and Amegio's feelings—!? And what will Rico's resolve be—? The long battle over Lacrim has finally come to an end—!
