Catholic Bishop Edward Daly died on the 8 July, aged 82. He will forever be remembered for an iconic image when he was photographed waving a white handkerchief as he escorted people carrying a dying teenager during what became known as Bloody Sunday when 13 people were dead shot by British soldiers during a civil rights protest in Londonderry in 1972.
