Episode 1
In 1987, soldier Patrick Provis was left fighting for his life after being hit by an IRA mortar. Facing extraordinary dangers, an army helicopter flew in to rescue him and, against the odds, Patrick survived. Now desperate to draw a line under the trauma that continues to haunt him, Patrick can't rest until he's thanked the person who took the decision to rescue him. But so far his 20-year search has got him nowhere. With military records from the Troubles shrouded in secrecy, what are the chances of Matt succeeding where Patrick has failed?

Episode 2
As a boy, 51-year-old Jon Howe was a school bully, tormenting one boy in particular - Simon Pierce. The shame of what he did has haunted Jon throughout his adult life, and he lives with the fear of the long-term damage he might have inflicted on Simon. Desperate to apologise, Jon's spent years looking for Simon but can't find a trace of him anywhere. Will Matt succeed where Jon has failed? And if he does, will Simon agree to meet Jon, let alone forgive him?
46-year-old mother of three Lisa Whaymand's life changed forever when, out of the blue, she was diagnosed with an exceptionally aggressive form of leukaemia. Lisa's life hung in the balance for nearly a year. Her survival is down to the selfless act of an anonymous bone marrow donor. Four years after the transplant, she's still coming to terms with her ordeal. Now hoping to draw a line under the trauma, she needs to find and thank her donor in person. But with the identity of donors so carefully protected, what are the chances of Mel helping Lisa meet him face to face?

Episode 3
Ten years ago, Andy Chaggar's trip of a lifetime ended in tragedy when the Boxing Day tsunami struck in Thailand. His girlfriend lost her life, and he only narrowly escaped with his. He now wants to track down the three men who rescued him and draw a line under the tragedy for good. With minimal information, The Gift embarks on a search to find his heroes.
Beverley Cox's expatriate childhood in Kenya was overshadowed by her turbulent relationship with her father. The family's domestic help, Kak, stepped in to care for her, treating Beverly like his own daughter. Instead of looking after Kak in his retirement, as is often customary in Africa, Beverley's family left him with nothing. Desperate to apologise and right the wrongs of her family, Beverley has tried in vain to find Kak. With no guarantees that he is even still alive, Mel's only hope of finding Kak is to travel to Kenya and search on the ground.

Episode 4
The final episode of the series features Peter Miles, who was sentenced to six years in jail for his part in a series of aggressive armed robberies across Bristol. He has now been out of prison for over two years and is determined to turn his back on a life of crime. Desperate to say sorry to his victims, he turns to Mel to help him find a way of making amends.
26 years ago Pauline Stepney was rushed to hospital to give birth to her daughter, 14 weeks prematurely. Pauline's baby's life hung in the balance, but while the doctors fought to keep her alive, Pauline was stranded at home, 50 miles from the hospital. Unable to have regular contact with her daughter, Pauline sunk into a deep depression. It was only when a stranger offered to give Pauline a lift to the hospital every day that Pauline was able to be with her baby. Happily, Pauline's daughter survived. But Pauline has never forgiven herself for not properly thanking the woman whose small act of kindness had such an enormous effect on her life.
