Travel Man: 48 Hours in... - Season 8

Season 8
Episodes

Athens
Richard Ayoade is back on his travels, taking his usual ruthless approach to getting the maximum from a city break. Comedy goddess Dawn French joins Richard in Athens, cradle of Western civilisation. Their mythic mini-break features doughnuts, the Acropolis, and the thermal waters of Lake Vouliagmeni - rumoured to be the goddess Athena's favourite bathing spot - where they get an exfoliating pedicure from a toothless carp. There's a 14-course tasting menu at a temple to molecular gastronomy, including lamb's brain. And an Olympian tour featuring discus and javelin training is followed by a bout of ouzo tasting.

Porto
Nish Kumar joins Richard Ayoade for a potter round Porto, Portugal's second city. They start their trip with a welcome tipple of the city's eponymous fortified wine. To get their bearings, Richard and Nish hire electric scooters. They refuel with Porto's favourite sandwich, the meaty Francesinha; take on a 5D cinema experience; and are pushed to the boundaries of physical endurance as they climb the Arr?íbida bridge. Their brave ascent is rewarded with great views of the city and the ocean. At a local church, Nish makes a confession. Absolved, the duo indulge in a selection of local pastries with a cake connoisseur, and test out artisanal soap in a genre-defining hand washing sequence.

Tallinn
Richard Ayoade's joined by Alice Levine - DJ, broadcaster, podcaster - as the pair go on a rapid fling round the Estonian capital and all of its most see-able sights.

Hamburg
Richard Ayoade and Bob Mortimer go for a spin round the cosmopolitan city. There's a Beatles tour in the red-light district, great views and hipster cocktails.
