Episode 1
The documentary following the paramedics of West Midlands Ambulance Service returns. On the way back to base, one team is flagged down by police officers dealing with a man who has overdosed on drugs. They are also called out to a woman with gynaecological problems, who is losing a lot of blood and needs to go to hospital, and a man who has a condition where his throat swells up and closes without warning.

Episode 2
Paramedics are called out to a young woman who has had a seizure on a bus. She has epilepsy but the frequency of her seizures has increased dramatically in recent days. The crews also help a man with a lung condition who uses his own source of oxygen, but the canister is in another room and he's too weak to reach it; a young woman with terminal cancer who has collapsed and can't get up; a husband who is worried that if his wife goes into hospital, she won't come out again, but her dementia has reached the stage where a visit to hospital is unavoidable; and a man with low blood oxygen levels who needs the paramedics' help just to breathe.

Episode 3
Police find a man lying unconscious in the street following a suspected drug overdose. When a man is found collapsed outside his house clutching his chest, the paramedics need to act quickly as he may be having a heart attack. A category one call - the highest priority - comes through for a woman collapsed on her bathroom floor and an elderly woman climbs on a chair to reach a daddy long-legs, with painful consequences.

Episode 4
A call comes in from a GP surgery for a child suffering a severe asthma attack and paramedics are called out to a young woman with multiple sclerosis who is in considerable pain. A man with advanced bowel cancer who is struggling to breathe is seen to by a district nurse so as to avoid a visit to A&E. Plus, a patient is having their 10th nose bleed in 11 days.

Episode 5
Calls to the ambulance service reach new heights in the early hours of Saturday morning as the clubs start to empty. A young woman is found intoxicated by the side of the road and an amateur boxer has vomited in his sleep and is difficult to rouse after losing a fight. Paramedics are called for a woman who has gone into premature labour at 32 weeks.

Episode 6
On a Friday night, the paramedics are called out to a man who has reportedly collapsed in the street and isn't breathing. Paramedics also treat a man lying unconscious in an alleyway surrounded by needles who's taken a drug overdose but refuses to go to hospital, and a four-year-old who has a high temperature and a nasty cough. On the same shift, a man is struggling to breathe with an abnormal heart rhythm and a woman has fallen and can't get up. The paramedics need to make sure she hasn't broken any bones.

Episode 7
On a Thursday day shift, a young man has come off his motorbike and slid along the road while not wearing any protective clothing. A young boy is complaining of chest pains; there's a family history of heart problems and his mum is worried about him. On the same shift, a man with only one leg has suspected deep vein thrombosis and needs to be treated in hospital. Paramedics arrive at an address to find a doctor in hospital scrubs holding a baby. It's a father and son and the baby has a worrying cough while a woman is complaining of severe abdominal pain.

Episode 8
A call comes in from the police saying a young man has collapsed outside a nightclub and isn't breathing. It's a category one emergency - the highest priority - meaning there's an immediate threat to life. A young woman is having a sickle cell crisis. This genetic condition makes her normally round blood cells form a sickle shape, sticking together and causing excruciating pain. A woman has the highest blood pressure that one of the paramedics has ever seen, and she needs to go to hospital urgently. A former soldier collapses and is trapped behind a door, and a woman has crippling chest pains. Her condition is a medical mystery that can only be solved with a trip to A&E.

Episode 9
Paramedics treat a woman with a possible bleed on the brain, a baby whose heart is beating extremely fast, a man showing signs of a stroke, and a woman who may have sepsis

Paramedics treat a woman whose defibrillator inside her chest has delivered an electric shock to her heart, and a man who's had bowel surgery who thinks he may have an infection
