Il s'est inspiré de Brigitte pour écrire Juliette, son héroïne : sa liberté, sa beauté, ce corps qui défie la pudeur, ce mélange de provocation et de naïveté qui rend fous les hommes. Il choisit pour décor un petit village peu connu au bord de la Méditerranée : Saint-Tropez. Il choisit aussi un comédien de 20 ans pour jouer Michel, son amoureux maudit. Jean-Louis Trintignant est un garçon austère et introverti. Il est marié, aime les grands textes et la musique classique. Brigitte n'est pas emballée par ce partenaire glacial et si loin d'elle. Mais, sous les yeux de toute l'équipe, et de Vadim derrière sa caméra, une attraction insidieuse s'opère entre les deux jeunes gens...
