Betty is troubled by last night's mystery caller and decides to call the number back. She discovers it is in fact the Salvation Army in Hull. Worried Betty tells Alan. She reminds him that if he doesn’t act now he will always wonder ‘what if?’, and so the two of them head off to Hull. Terence covers his shame at living in a hostel by angrily having a go at Alan for turning up unannounced.

Alan goes to see Terence again in Hull. They go for a drink. At the pub an edgy Terence insists on sticking to a soft drink. Taking their seats, it's awkward and stilted between the two men as they make small talk, trying to reconnect after so many years apart. When talk turns to Terence's living arrangements, Alan confesses he recognises the signs that Terence has a drink problem.

Alan admits to a stunned Steph that he's seen Terence. Anxious, Alan explains that Terence has fallen on hard times and he would like to invite him to the village to re-establish their relationship. Steph argues against it and asks her father not to bring him here. She eventually walks out. Later, Betty questions Steph's reluctance at a reunion with her brother and probes Alan.

After Alice’s scan is assessed, she is informed that the baby is in distress and she will need a caesarean section. Aware of the risks of caesarean birth, a frightened Alice urges Lisa to contact Sam. Alice is fetched to go to theatre but with no sign of Sam she spills her heart to Lisa, telling her that if something should happen to her she has to tell Sam how much she loves him and that he must be strong for their son.

Sam and Alice watch as their baby is delivered and the umbilical cord is cut and clamped. The pair are worried when the baby is taken away but a nurse explains he is fine, he just needs help with his breathing and has been taken to an incubator.

Alice is enjoying seeing her baby properly for the first time when an alarm goes off on Samson's incubator, Alice worries but Sam, having been shown how to deal with it, takes it in his stride.

A dejected Danny goes to Connelton View and drunkenly shouts his love for Dawn, insisting Scott is no good for her. Dawn goes to the door and tells him to stop making a fool of himself but when a smug Scott appears, Danny goads him until he's wound-up enough to land a punch. Dawn is appalled by Scott's behaviour and tells him that she wants him out of the house.

Alice and Sam are distraught as they learn that Alice's Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma is very aggressive and has spread to her central nervous system. The doctor tells Alice that she’ll need to start an intrusive form of chemotherapy as soon possible. Sam is taken aback by Alice's negative attitude and tells her that she’ll have to take her medicine and get better. A terrified Alice insists that she doesn’t have to do anything. Over at Connelton View, Dawn remains adamant that she wants Scott out. He nastily asserts that she won’t be able to pay the mortgage without him and she is left worrying about her financial situation. Terry later offers to lend Dawn £50,000 to buy Scott out.

Sam tries his hardest to boost a gloomy Alice but nothing seems to lift the shadow that is looming over her. Sam takes her to see Samson but she insists that it's all pointless as she is going to die anyway. Sam is stunned by her brutal words but his attention is soon diverted when Samson's alarm goes off. Sam and Alice stand by feeling hopeless as the nurses resuscitate their tiny baby.

Scott makes a vicious phone call.

Later, Sam is taken aback to see Alice with no hair, but she breaks the silence by asking him if he loves her as an egghead. Sam is terrified as the seriousness of Alice's illness hits home.

Laurel is aghast at Ashley's insensitivity and insists that she is happy to be a guardian to Jasmine. Meanwhile, Sam returns home from hospital with Alice. Lisa tells Sam and Alice about preparations the Dingles will need to make in the house for Samson’s homecoming.

Nicola reveals to Simon that all she wants is the man she fell in love with and hands over a cheque from Rodney signed to him for £25,000. A confused Simon is stunned. Nicola knows that Simon has refused Rodney's cash before but given their recent arguments over money, hopes that he will accept the cheque for the state of their relationship. Meanwhile, Jasmine tells Debbie that Ashley has changed his mind and agreed to let her stay at the vicarage and attend Hotten Comprehensive. Debbie feels a pang of envy, knowing she's ruined her own academic opportunities and realising how different she is to Jasmine.

Later, Simon reveals to Lesley that Tash is in a position to pay him back the £3,000 that she owes him and has also insisted that he accept an additional £2,000 as a thank you. Thinking the money will ease their relationship problems, Lesley urges Simon to tell Nicola. Meanwhile, Terence has been offered a job with the Kings and ponders where to live. Alan feels that he may have outstayed his welcome at Betty’s and reveals that he's considering buying Tug Ghyll, inviting Terence to live with him.

After a run-in with Terence, Steph lashes out at Adam. She claims that Adam's responsible for dragging up the abuse she had fought to keep hidden. Adam is angry and tells her that he is sick of her mood swings. Stunned, Steph suspects that Adam is doubting her story and orders him out. Elsewhere, Simon admits to Lesley that Nicola’s materialism is getting to him and he wishes they just had a relationship based on love, rather than money. Lesley urges him to face his problems and not give up on his wife-to- be. Meanwhile, Owen tells Len and Pearl that he is desperate to know more about his dad and would like to visit his grave. Pearl is stunned that Owen thinks his father is dead.

Betty manages to stop Steph from leaving the village for good when she tentatively states that if there is any truth in her abuse claim, Terence will have won if she runs. Sensing Betty has some doubts about Terence, Steph gains strength and tracks Terence down. Refusing to allow him to control her life, Steph threatens to tell the village what he did to her as a child unless he leaves. Claiming that Terence's charm is already wearing thin, Steph believes Betty has seen through him and others will too.

Betty voices her concerns about Terence, who approaches a nervous Steph in the shop and Steph is shocked when a smiling Terence whispers a threat to her. Viv clocks the tension and later makes a remark to Alan about why Steph and Terence don't get on. Alan questions Viv's comments with Terence who sees an opportunity to cause friction for Betty and so gives the impression that it's Betty that can't be trusted to keep quiet, not Steph.

Adam is worried for Betty after she discovers Alan and Terence are moving out, but she insists she wants to be left alone. Later, Adam is convinced that something is going on with Steph but initially she refuses to admit she is being threatened by Terence. Meanwhile, at a palm reading evening, Nicola is miffed when she's told her love life may be in trouble. When Simon returns from the pub, Nicola showers Simon with affection but an argument ensues. Also, Tom discovers his visitors are arriving a day earlier than expected and asks Pearl whether Nicola is still providing silver service catering. Pearl spots an opportunity to raise cash to fund her trip to Hong Kong and she tells Tom she has taken over that side of the business and agrees to provide staff for the night. Pearl is chuffed until Len reminds her she's yet to find the man power.

Nicola flicks through Simon’s phone and is horrified to discover several texts and phone calls to and from Tash. Nicola is convinced that Simon is having an affair but Lesley explains about the money Tash has paid back, forcing her to confront Simon. He explains that he was testing her abilities to live without lots of money and believes she's more in love with the lifestyle they used to have. Furious at being tested, Nicola takes off her engagement ring.

Paul apologises to Ivan for going through his phone and to prove his trust asks Rodney if he can give Ivan a key to the house.

Belle lets slip to a horrified Debbie that Cain is bringing baby Sarah back to the village. Debbie makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with her daughter, and as she packs her bags, she tells her family she is going to London to find Charity. Lisa loses her temper, but Debbie becomes increasingly stubborn, insisting that if Sarah comes back she will have her adopted. Meanwhile, news of Sarah's possible return spreads like wildfire, and Andy can’t wait to have his daughter back in his arms. Elsewhere, Chas tries to spend quality time with her son but she is disappointed when he tells her that he’d rather be with Shadrach than his mother. To make matters worse, Gordon asks if Aaron can stay a little longer and, the young boy makes his feelings crystal clear as he stomps to his room in protest.

Their shock turns to anger when she admits that she wants her baby so that she will be able to get her name on the council housing list. Cain tells his daughter that she is poison and she is blanked by the entire family.

Carl desperately tries to reason with Chas, aware that if he can’t talk her around she’ll be heading back to the army. When Carl fails, Del decides to give her cousin a few home truths and she tells Chas that what she had with Carl meant nothing and that Chas would be stupid to let him go. Over at the café, Bob’s ex-wife Barbara turns up with Josh and Carly, telling Viv and Val that she felt guilty about denying Bob time with his kids. Bob realises that he's going to have to act like a blind man, but in order to spare him, Viv and Val decide to tell Barbara that he has been cured.

Viv is horrified to find that Donna has booked their hen party at an outward bound centre, and is mortified to see that Jean has joined them. Things go from bad to worse as the brides-to-be fall out, and during an argument, Donna blurts out that she wishes she wasn’t getting married. Meanwhile, Jean can’t help but let slip that she has married Bob twice and Viv feels flat, knowing that she is the last in a long line of Bob's conquests. Meanwhile, Dawn goes to see Bob and insists they are going to Derbyshire to attempt to make things up with Josh, Carly and Barbara. Bob apologises to Josh for lying to him about going blind, and tries to convince his son that he's always cared about him. Bob is gutted when Josh refuses to forgive him and returns home convinced he's the worst dad in the world.

The big snip means that Viv'll never be a mother again. The miserable hen party return to the village and Viv is horrified when the reporter turns up and informs her that the readers have lost interest in Buffy and that they won't be doing a feature on the wedding. Viv swears to make the wedding more appealing to the press and sacks Belle as ring bearer, passing on the role to the rabbit. Bob is furious that Viv could be so cruel and noting Belle's disappointed face, he berates Viv's behaviour.

The men go to a casino for Marlon and Bob’s stag do. They all watch in amazement as Bob's number comes up. After collecting his money, Bob disappears into the night saying that there is something that he has to do. The other stags are left confused. On the way home from the stag do, Marlon explains to Paddy that he is having doubts about the wedding. Paddy decides to call Donna as Marlon should be bearing his soul to her. Donna catches up with Marlon at Smithy Cottage. Meanwhile, Sam approaches the Kings to sponsor Alice’s wing walk. Tom is impressed and gives generously. Tom thinks back to his wife's struggle with cancer and tells Carl that Sam will need all the help he can get with Alice. Tom later finds Sam and gives him a video camera so that he can film the wing walk.

The men return to the village and feel terrible as they are forced to tell Viv that Bob has gone missing. Viv is fraught with worry that her wanting a baby has forced Bob away. Meanwhile, when the reception venue cancels at the last minute, Donna is left to try and find a replacement. After some thought, she comes up with the idea of having the reception at The Woolpack. Marlon, however, doesn’t agree but will he be able to find an alternative in such a short space of time. Sam and Alice are told that Samson can go home on Friday. On returning to the Dingles, Alice airs her doubts that Samson is ready to come home. She gets upset and the family worry that everything is getting to her.

It is the morning of the double wedding and whilst Viv panics that Bob has gone forever, Donna worries that she hasn’t been completely honest with Marlon about Max and she heads off to the Dingles’. Once with Marlon, Donna reveals that she has had wobbles since day one and tells him that she was in love with Max. Marlon is taken aback. Meanwhile, Jean turns up at a hotel to pick Bob up, telling him she has come to take him to the wedding. In the car, when Bob points out that she has driven past the turning for Emmerdale, she slams on her brakes and begs Bob to give their relationship another chance.

At the Dingles', everyone celebrates Samson’s homecoming. Alice, however, is clearly uneasy and unable to rest as she is worried that Samson will stop breathing. Also, Dawn is stunned when she discovers her mum, Jean, in bed with Terry. She goes to open up the café and ropes Jamie in to help. He is highly amused by last night's shenanigans but Dawn is less than impressed. Betty and Adam are skeptical of the money Terence is borrowing from Alan for his ex-wife. When Betty calls his ex-wife, she hangs up at first mention of his name. Viv, not wanting to see Donna move out to be with new husband Marlon convinces them to remain with her in order to save money.

Alice is exhausted having stayed up all night with the baby. Sam tells her that she should have woken him, but she says that she was happy to be with her son. Alice tries to change Samson's nappy but struggles as she starts to feel queasy. She explains it's a side effect from the chemo. Alice wants time alone with the baby and sends Sam out. Alice panics when she hears Samson making strange noises and rushes straight to hospital with Del.

Betty tells Steph that they should go to the police now that they know about Terence's court order to stay away from his wife. Steph tells Betty that it's no good and refuses to involve the police. Meanwhile, Alan questions Terence on the injunction. Terence explains he never hit Janice he was simply fighting her off.

Terence goes home to find Alan preparing the evening meal. The doorbell goes and Terence is shocked to see it is two officers from the child protection unit. The officers question Terence but he insists that the accusations Steph has made are untrue. After the officers have left, Alan vents his frustration. He is completely supportive of Terence, but states that he is going to the B&B to have it out with Steph and Adam.

After yesterday's events, Terence wakes with a sore head and packs his bag. Terence hides his things as Alan arrives and wanting to give him good news, Alan reports that his cheque should have cleared by now and that he'll have a bankers draft made out to Terence for £20,000 later today.

Alan is taken to hospital and explains to Steph about Terence's confession and begs for her forgiveness. Steph can't believe that it has taken this to persuade him that she is truthful. Alan feels a failure as a father, not only because of not realising that the abuse was going on, but also because he raised two such troubled children. Steph questions how Alan could have failed to notice that there was a problem.

Hari discovers that the Sugden's water has been contaminated with antifreeze. Hari assures Andy and Jack that there will be a thorough investigation of how their water came to be contaminated. He says that they'll be looking upstream. Jack suspiciously notes that the Kings' development is upstream, but they decide to leave the officials to investigate.

Jack's angry when the Kings come up smelling of roses and is convinced the Kings have dumped the antifreeze and along with Andy he shows the environmental officer around. Meanwhile, Daz is subdued convinced he has blown their chance to nail the Kings. Jasmine convinces Daz to tell Andy the truth. Later that day, at the Kings development, the environmental officer questions an aggrieved Matthew and Jimmy. Matthew, a picture of injured innocence, gives the officer the run of the site.

Andy and Daz take revenge on the Kings. As payback for getting away scot-free yesterday Andy and Daz break into the Kings' development site office and set to work at destroying everything. Later when Jimmy sees the site office devastation he vows that the Sugdens won't get away with their latest reprisal. However Matthew reminds him that whatever he touches gets messed up and states that he will deal with it. Later that day finding Jack, Matthew congratulates the Sugden clan on having the last laugh by trashing the office. News to him, Jack is genuinely baffled, but Matthew warns that they're quits now.

After a night spent at Katie's bedside the nurse assures Andy that Katie's chances of survival are good. The nurse suggests he chats with Katie, sure that a familiar voice will be soothing to her. Once alone Andy tries speaking but doesn't know what to say. Meanwhile, at Butler's Farm, Jack fills Daz in about Katie. Alarmed, Daz agrees it is terrible news but wonders what it's got to do with Andy.

When Carl suggests using Cossack, Edna awkwardly refuses and suggests he speak to Tom for a reason. When Carl questions Tom, firm that he doesn't tell Matthew, he reveals that Sadie is coming to collect Cossack tomorrow.

Both are shocked to see that Sadie has been invited too. During the dinner it is clear Matthew is wounded by the closeness between Sadie and Alasdair. Perdita notes with interest as Sadie and Matthew leave the room.

He is disappointed when he finds out he is a multi–millionaire and knows he cannot compete. Later, when Tom confronts Matthew, telling him he knows Sadie was at the dinner, Matthew insists the pair are history. On the day of the wing walk there is no sign of Carl and Chas is certain that he can’t overcome his genuine phobia. However, as Alice’s plane takes off, Chas is amazed to see a petrified Carl following in tandem. Upon landing, Carl looks worse for wear and can barely form a sentence. However, despite being breathless, Carl manages to declare his love for Chas and once again asks her to marry him. Meanwhile, Paul reveals to Ivan that he knows about his aunt's wedding. Ivan reveals that as they have not been together long he doesn’t want to come out to his family. Upset Paul leaves. Angry that Paul has to turn everything into a drama; Ivan turns to Nicola for support. Meanwhile, Alice is still having second thoughts, wondering if the wing walk is a foolish risk.

Adam picks up a fire extinguisher and hits Terence over the head with it. Terence falls down the stairs as Steph screams, and he dies with a violent comeuppance. Meanwhile, knowing that Rodney is standing for election, Jimmy asks him to look favourably on the Kings if he's elected. Seeking further revenge, Carl and Chas return to the haulage yard in balaclavas. The pair set about causing destruction but when Carl spots Cain acting as a security guard, the pair leg it. Cain hears the disturbance and follows in hot pursuit. Without Carl realising Chas stumbles on her bad knee and is caught by Cain. As Cain approaches with a crowbar determined to make the intruder pay, Chas screams out and pulls the hat off to reveal her identity. Meanwhile, Jasmine returns a book to Cain and is surprised to find he knows the book in depth. Later, Jasmine is at home with Debbie and finds a parcel. It is the book back from Cain with a note asking her to meet him the following night. Jasmine is left feeling apprehensive but excited by Cain's interest. Meanwhile, Jean keeps pretending to Dawn that she is interested in Tom.

A reluctant Daz finally gives his mother a chance but tells her he is going back to live at Butler's Farm with Andy and Katie and therefore will not be leaving with her. The pair exchange words outside The Woolpack and things are about to get violent before Diane separates them. Jimmy tells Carl that the show house will be ready in time. Meanwhile, Viv is told that she could never carry a baby even if she became pregnant. She gets upset, feeling that she has failed Bob. In an attempt to cheer her up Bob resorts to the only option they have left. Elsewhere, Len is angry and upset that nobody told him about Pearl’s problems. Later, he and Danny ring around, desperate to find her.

Viv welcomes Kelly back from Italy but immediately requests for her to be a surrogate for her and Bob. Kelly is horrified and tells Bob about the incident. Bob confronts Viv and they agree to find a more appropriate surrogate. Over at the Kings’, Jimmy lies to Tom and Carl that an engineer has inspected the damaged show home. Jimmy becomes stressed as he tries to sell his prize draw tickets and when Jack winds him up he becomes short of breath and collapses. The worried Kings rally around. Meanwhile, Sadie is stunned when Cain threatens that if she doesn’t sleep with him, he’ll tell Tom that she asked him to damage the show home.

Sadie receives a text from Cain asking to meet her in a country lane. He blackmails her into kissing him and, as she does, they hear a click and see a flash. A smug Jimmy has managed to capture the moment on camera. That evening, Sadie and Matthew have dinner at Home Farm and Jimmy enjoys watching Sadie sweat as he gets out his camera. Meanwhile, Viv lectures Donna on treating her body with special care in order to prepare for the baby. As she tells Donna what she can and can’t eat and drink, Donna begins to wonder if she's doing the right thing. Ashley is worried about Jasmine. When he witnesses a row between her and Debbie he tries to get to the bottom of the problem. A worried Rodney continues to press Eric about planning permission.

Sadie asks Cain to tell Jimmy that he's got it wrong about them being a couple. Cain refuses and says that if Matthew asks, he’ll say they’ve been at it for weeks. Later on, Sadie gets revenge on Cain by letting slip to Ashley that she has heard that Jasmine has been seeing Cain. Furious, Ashley storms round to the pub and he grabs Cain, slamming him against the bar. Cain snidely insists that Jasmine was gagging for it, so Ashley sends him backwards into the counter with a punch. Meanwhile, Zak and Lisa are appalled by Cain's behaviour and kick him out of the house. Zak tells him that he brings shame to the Dingle name and he disowns him. Cain drives away from the village, but not before telling Sadie that he can’t wait until she loses everything.

Jasmine apologises to Debbie and tells her that Cain only did it to get at her. She tells Debbie that she feels used and breaks down as she explains that she knows how it feels to lose your family as now Laurel and Ashley are fighting and may split up. Meanwhile, the atmosphere is tense between Laurel and Ashley and, despite Laurel making it clear that she is sorry, Ashley refuses to accept her apology. Laurel protests that she didn’t tell him because she knew he would over react. Questioning Adam’s nurse, Alan is shocked when she tells him that Terence had gone to the surgery on 9th April, remembering the date as it was her mother's birthday. Alan demands to see Adam.
